The Applications are open to apply for the JSPS Fellowship 2026/27 in Japan. It is a Fully Funded International fellowship in Japan for Candidates from around the world. The Duration of the Fellowship is from 1 to 12 months. The Fellowship is offered by the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS). The Objective of this Fellowship is to invite pre- and post-doctoral researchers, early-career researchers to carry out Research in Japanese Universities or Institutes. It helps early-career researchers advance their research. No Application fee, and the JSPS Postdoctoral Fellowship is open to all Nationals. There are 120 Fellowships to be awarded.   • Round-trip airfare
  • A Monthly Maintenance Allowance of JPY 362,000.

Required Documents

  • Academic Transcripts: From your Bachelor’s degree through your latest degree.
  • Ph.D. Diploma/Certificate: A copy of your Ph.D. diploma. If you haven’t received it yet, provide:
    • A letter from your university with your expected Ph.D. award date, OR
    • A certificate of Ph.D. program enrollment with a supervisor’s letter confirming completion within two years. (Note: The Ph.D. award date must be the official university date, not the defense date.)
  • Recommendation Letter: From your current academic institution or employer.
  • Letter from Japanese Host Researcher: Confirmation that they agree to guide your research. (Can be submitted by August 15, 2025, if not available at the application.)
  • Research Plan (2 pages): Covering your background, purpose, plan, expected results/impact.
  • List of Publications (1 page): Include only peer-reviewed, printed, or officially accepted papers, formatted with all author details, title, journal information, and date.
