Purpose of the Fellowship
- The purpose of this program is to empower high-level ocean policy officials from developing countries with the knowledge and skills needed to drive sustainable ocean governance.
- Build capacity in these nations to protect marine ecosystems and foster a sustainable blue economy.
- Provide specialized, interdisciplinary training in ocean governance, marine conservation, the blue economy, and continental shelf management.
- Facilitate international cooperation and networking among global ocean leaders.
- Directly support UN Sustainable Development Goal 14: Life Below Water.

Eligibility Criteria
- Candidates from the UN Member States.
- This fellowship is for high-level government officials from developing countries who are key decision-makers in ocean policy, governance, and management.
- Heads or deputy heads of national ocean policy agencies.
- Ambassadors or equivalent officials with ocean policy responsibilities.
- Currently employed by their government with a plan to remain in their role long-term.
- Fluent in English (the program is in English only).
